Do more than possible.
RFT or Raw Functional Training is a bodyweight strength and conditioning curriculum developed by Joseph Sakoda aka “Da Rulk” who is well known for working with the first responder community, military, top-tier athletes, and some of Marvels Avengers.
With a background in Kinesiology and specialization in biomechanics, Rulk was fascinated with people who excelled in strength and conditioning but couldn’t perform at their jobs in the moment. For professionals like first responders, military personnel, and top-tier athletes, performing at their peak when needed is vital, as it could not only be the difference between winning and losing, it could be the difference between life and death.
Why RFT is such an effective training regiment for these professions stems from the curriculum's focus on sensory processing and its direct correlation to adrenal system management and nervous system optimization.
The level of efficiency that you can achieve in optimizing the adrenal and nervous systems will determine your ability to execute skill-based tasks and achieve maximum functional performance. Through the RFT curriculum can train your brain and body to adapt and overcome stressful challenges, improve coordination, mobility, agility, balance and increase functional strength in a safe environment.
In the gym, most people are doing things like squats, deadlifts, kettlebell swings which is all very linear. In real world situations everything is unbalanced and there is all kinds of additional data that your system has to process. At the end of the day the body doesn’t care how strong or shredded you are, It just wants to survive. Through the RFT curriculum you can improve your processing power and in turn improve your systems ability to regulate itself.
RFT has many applications not only for elite athletes and first responders but for anyone looking to integrate its principals into their comprehensive wellness protocols. Since RFT’s fundamental movements are bodyweight-only the risk of injury is minimal making it easily accessible to a wide range of people, including, but not limited to, people new to exercise, children, and the elderly.
